"I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one— I in them and You in Me—that they may be perfectly united, so that the world may know that You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me. (John 17:20-23)
In context, Jesus is praying to God the Father before His crucifixion.
In this prayer, He is showing us that He is perfectly united with the Father.
He is praying that we, as Christians, would also be perfectly united, just like He is with the Father.
This unity will only come by loving God and loving each other.
God wants the world to see the love that Christians have for one another and their love for Him. This will help them to know that Jesus came to the earth to help them have a relationship with God.
Pray that you can be perfectly united with other believers in the same way that Jesus is united with the Father in love. And, pray that your life would be a witness to the love of God. ~ Jeff M Newman
