Romans 6:4

Romans 6:4 We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in newness of life.
When you place your faith in Jesus, your old self, the person you once were under the power of sin, was buried with Him and brought to an end.
Baptism is an outward sign of this reality. Just as your old self is buried, when someone is baptized, they physically go under the water and come back up.
This pictures what happened to Jesus. Going under the water represents being buried with Christ. Coming out of the water represents being raised with Christ.
When Jesus was laid in the tomb on Good Friday, it looked like all was lost. But on Resurrection Sunday, He rose from the dead in victory.
In the same way, when you put your faith in Him, you not only died with Him, but you were also raised with Him. Now you can walk in newness of life. You have a new power to live differently.
Because of the resurrection, you can live a new life today. ~ Jeff M Newman
