Don't Let The World Choke Out The Word

Matthew 13:22

The seed sown among the thorns is the one who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. (Matthew 13:22)

This verse is part of the parable of the sower. The seed represents the Word of God that is sown among different types of soil. In this verse, the seed is sown among thorns, and it gets choked out. This is a warning to us that when we are consumed by the deceitfulness of wealth and anxiety, our relationship with God will suffer. If you find that you are not spending time seeking God, abiding in Him, fellowshipping with other believers, worshiping God, praying to Him, and surrendering to Him, then the cares of this world are causing the Word of God to be choked out in your life. Turn to God right now and ask Him to give you the strength to focus completely on Him. ~ Jeff M Newman
