Are you a light in the darkness, or are you just blending in?
Let’s look at our verse for today.
Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. (Ephesians 5:11)
In context, the Apostle Paul is writing to the Ephesians, urging them to walk in a manner that reflects their new identity in Christ.
He is calling believers to have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness. This means you are not to participate in sinful behavior.
Paul says this kind of behavior is fruitless. That means nothing good will come from it.
He then calls us to expose them. To expose means to bring to light.
First, you want to do this personally. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
This means bringing your own sins into the light before the Lord.
Next, you can bring to light the sin around you by diligently sharing God’s Word with others.
Take a look at 2 Timothy 3:16-17, which says, All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.
Confess your sins to the Lord today, and then go share God’s Word with others to bring His light into their lives. ~ Jeff M Newman

The Crown of Life
God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. (James 1:12)
