Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”
In context, this is spoken right after Adam and Eve sinned against God. The serpent had tempted Eve to eat the forbidden fruit. He led her to disobey God’s command not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
God said that He would put “enmity” between the serpent and the woman. Enmity means hostility or animosity. The serpent represents Satan and his opposition to God. This shows us that there would be ongoing spiritual conflict between Satan and God’s purposes. Ultimately, this conflict would lead to the victory of Jesus Christ over Satan.
“Seed” means offspring or descendants. The woman’s seed ultimately points to Jesus Christ, who was born of a woman, Mary. He came into the world as the promised Redeemer to defeat Satan and his works.
“He will crush your head” points to the decisive defeat of the serpent. Jesus, who was born of a woman, would deliver a fatal blow to Satan’s power through His death and resurrection. Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead, defeating the power of sin and death. The serpent’s goal, as seen in the garden, was to lead humanity into sin and death, but God had a plan to redeem us.
“You will strike his heel” points to the suffering the serpent would bring upon the woman’s seed. We can see this in the suffering Jesus endured during His crucifixion. Although Jesus suffered and died, He rose from the dead and secured the victory over Satan.
This verse is commonly known as the Protoevangelium, meaning the “first gospel.” It is the announcement of God’s redemptive plan at the very beginning of human sin and death. Let this encourage you. God revealed His plan to provide a Savior from the beginning. Spend time today thanking Him for what He has done for you and how He has rescued you from darkness and brought you into His glorious kingdom of light. ~ Jeff M Newman

Observe Jesus’ Commands
Use your worldly wealth to make friends for eternity. Be shrewd and faithful with the worldly wealth your father has entrusted to you.
Luke 9:1-12 Jesus also said to His disciples, “There was a rich man whose manager was accused of wasting his possessions. 2 So he called him in to ask, ‘What is this I hear about you? Turn in an account of your management, for you cannot be manager any longer.’ 3 The manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do, now that my master is taking away my position? I am too weak to dig and too ashamed to beg. 4 I know what I will do, so that after my removal from management, people will welcome me into their homes.’ 5 And he called in each one of his master’s debtors. ‘How much do you owe my master?’ he asked the first. 6 ‘A hundred measures of olive oil,’he answered. ‘Take your bill,’ said the manager. ‘Sit down quickly, and write fifty.’ 7 Then he asked another, ‘And how much do you owe?’ ‘A hundred measures of wheat,’he replied. ‘Take your bill and write eighty,’ he told him. 8 The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the sons of this age are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the sons of light. 9 I tell you, use worldly wealth to make friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, they will welcome you into eternal dwellings. 10 Whoever is faithful with very little will also be faithful with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11 So if you have not been faithful with worldly wealth, who will entrust you with true riches? 12 And if you have not been faithful with the belongings of another, who will give you belongings of your own?
