Psalm 123:1-2 I lift up my eyes to You, the One enthroned in heaven. 2 As the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maidservant look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes are on the LORD our God until He shows us mercy.
This psalm was sung by worshipers as they journeyed to Jerusalem. It reflects a posture of lifting one’s eyes to the One who is enthroned in heaven. In this life, it is easy to fix our eyes on circumstances, enemies, persecution, or the challenges we face. Scripture calls us instead to look above these things, in faith, to the One who is our help and our hope.
No matter what is going on in your life, take a moment right now and lift your eyes to the LORD your God. He is merciful, and He loves His people with an everlasting love. ~ Jeff M Newman
