2 Corinthians 11:30 If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness.
In context, Paul was defending himself against the false apostles who were tearing him down and trying to look impressive. Paul said that if he must boast, in order to defend himself, he will do it in a way that shows his weakness.
Instead of focusing on his accomplishments, like the world teaches, he took a different strategy. He wanted people to see his dependence on Christ.
For example, he admitted that when the governor was trying to arrest him, he escaped by being lowered down the city wall in a basket.
He later described that he had a thorn in his flesh and pleaded with the Lord to remove it. He is an example of depending on Christ’s power instead of boasting in his accomplishments.
Admit your weaknesses and your need to depend on Christ, rather than pretending you have it all together. Show those around you how much you need Jesus. ~ Jeff M Newman
