Judas Looked for an Opportunity to Betray Jesus
Matthew 26:14–16

Matthew 26:14–16 Then one of the Twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests 15 and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I hand Him over to you?” And they set out for him thirty pieces of silver. 16 So from then on Judas looked for an opportunity to betray Jesus.
Just after Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, cleansed the temple, and confronted the religious leaders, the events leading to His betrayal were set in motion. One of His own disciples would soon hand Him over.
Judas was not an outsider. He was close to Jesus. He witnessed His miracles and experienced His ministry firsthand.
Yet instead of treasuring Jesus as Savior, Judas chose to hand Him over for thirty pieces of silver.
Even in this betrayal, Jesus’ plan was not thwarted. He continued forward and fulfilled His mission.
This reminds us that even the darkest moments in our lives are not beyond God’s reach. He is able to redeem them for His greater purpose.
Trust that God has a plan for your life, even when the situation seems bleak. Look to Jesus today. He understands what it is to suffer and be betrayed, and He is able to meet you in your need. ~ Jeff M Newman
