“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will. “Who then is the faithful and sensible servant whom his master put in charge of his household to give them their food at the proper time? (Matthew 24:42-45)
Jesus is calling you to keep watch and to always be ready, because you don’t know when He is coming back. He is calling you to faithfully serve Him while you wait. This faithfulness applies to all areas of your life, whether it be your work life, home life, or ministry. Don’t be complacent in your calling. Be a good steward, and one day you will hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:21) ~ Jeff M Newman
