Romans 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.
In context, Paul has just finished explaining the gospel in depth. He is now teaching us how to live as Christians. This letter is addressed to the Christians living in Rome, a city where idolatry, sexual immorality, and pride were prevalent.
He begins by saying, “the night is far spent.” He is using the imagery of night and day to describe the present age and the coming of Christ. The night represents the present age, when sin and evil are still at work in the world. Before you believe in Christ, you are spiritually in darkness, walking according to the ways of the world.
Next, he says, “the day is at hand.” This points to the coming of Christ and the fullness of His kingdom. When you put your faith in Christ, you are brought into His kingdom and called to walk in the light. When Jesus returns, He will bring the fullness of His kingdom, and the day of salvation will be realized in all its fullness.
Then, he says, “let us cast off the works of darkness.” When you become a Christian, you are justified before God and forgiven of your sins through faith in Jesus Christ. However, you will still struggle with sinful desires. You must continually put away sinful behaviors that do not honor God. This is an ongoing part of your Christian walk as you look forward to the return of Jesus Christ.
Finally, he says, “put on the armor of light.” Because you are engaged in a spiritual battle, you need to be equipped to resist temptation and stand firm in your faith. The enemy will seek to lead you into sin and away from God. You must actively pursue what is good and pleasing to Him. To put on the armor of light, read God’s Word, pray continually, confess your sins, depend on the Holy Spirit for strength, fellowship with other Christians, worship God, serve Him, and abide in Christ. As you do these things, you will grow in your walk with the Lord and learn to live in a way that honors Him as you await His return. ~ Jeff M Newman

Mark 5:18-19 As He was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed by the demons begged to go with Him. 19 But Jesus would not allow him. “Go home to your own people,” He said, “and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and what mercy He has shown you.” (Luke 8:38-39)
