The Highest Heavens Cannot Contain You
1 Kings 8:27

1 Kings 8:27 But will God indeed dwell upon the earth? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain You, much less this temple I have built.
In context, Solomon had just finished building the temple. Although the temple was the place where God’s people would gather to worship Him, Solomon understood that no building could contain God. He declared that not even the highest heavens could contain Him.
This verse reveals God’s infinite greatness. He is greater than all of creation because He is its Creator. Nothing in the universe can limit or contain Him.
This makes the coming of Jesus Christ even more amazing. The infinite God took on human flesh and came to dwell among us. After His death and resurrection, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to dwell within everyone who places their faith in Him. The God whom the heavens cannot contain has chosen to make His home in His people.
Take time today to praise the infinite God who lives within you. Worship Him with awe and gratitude, knowing that the Creator of heaven and earth has made you His dwelling place.~ Jeff M Newman
