In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is His name by which He will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness. (Jeremiah 23:6)
Jeremiah was pointing ahead to the coming Messiah, the Righteous One. He spoke out against the false leaders and prophets who had misled and taken advantage of God’s people. The title “The LORD our Righteousness” means that God Himself is the source and standard of what is right.
He is faithful to the covenant He made with His people and will make things right through His promised King. When you abide in Him, you share in His righteousness. You are saved and made secure. And when He appears, you will stand before Him with confidence, not shame, because you belong to the Lord who is your righteousness. ~ Jeff M Newman
