The One Who Is Slow to Anger Calms a Dispute

Proverbs 15:18 A hot-tempered person stirs up strife, but the one who is slow to anger calms a dispute.
The way you respond to situations in your life can either cause strife or bring peace. If you have a hot temper or become angry quickly, your anger can create arguments, division, and damaged relationships. Scripture warns us not to give the devil an opportunity through unresolved anger (Ephesians 4:26–27).
In contrast, Proverbs describes the person who is slow to anger. This is the way Jesus responded to mistreatment. Even though He was mocked, falsely accused, beaten, and crucified, He did not retaliate. According to 1 Peter 2:23, when He was insulted, He did not insult in return, but entrusted Himself to the One who judges justly.
If you are quick to anger, start paying attention to the situations and circumstances that trigger your anger. Bring these things to God in prayer and ask Him to strengthen you to become slow to anger. Thank Him even in difficult circumstances and trust that He is using them to transform you to become more like Christ.
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you exercise self-control and respond with patience, grace, and love. Instead of allowing anger to control your response, allow Christ to control you. ~ Jeff M Newman
