Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
In context, Jesus’ disciples were arguing about position and greatness in the kingdom. They were focused on status and honor, but Jesus completely changed their understanding of greatness by explaining why He came.
Jesus did not come for others to serve Him. Even though He is the Son of God, He came to humbly serve others. The greatest act of service Jesus did was give His life on the cross for our sins. He willingly paid the price so that sinners could be forgiven and reconciled to God.
Jesus is the perfect example of humility and sacrificial love. As followers of Christ, we are called to serve others rather than live selfishly or seek recognition for ourselves.
Ask God to give you the strength to serve others like Christ in your home, church, workplace, and daily life. Depend on the Holy Spirit to help you reflect the servant heart of Jesus.~ Jeff M Newman
