As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water. Suddenly the heavens were opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and resting on Him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased!” (Matthew 3:16-17)

In these verses, we see God the Father’s official recognition of Jesus as the Messiah. We can see the prophecy of this event in the book of Isaiah which says “Here is My Servant, whom I uphold, My Chosen One, in whom My soul delights. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will bring justice to the nation. (Isaiah 41:1) In the verses from the book of Matthew, we can see the presence of all members of the Trinity. God the Son was baptized, God the Father spoke, and God the Holy Spirit descended like a dove. There is a deep fellowship and unity between the members of the Holy Trinity. Jesus came to this earth to invite you to be a part of this perfect relationship. Read John 17:20-23. ~ Jeff M Newman
