Hebrews 4:15-16 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin. 16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
This verse teaches us that Jesus is our High Priest. He is our mediator between us and God the Father. Jesus became a Man and lived among us. While He was here, He was tempted in every way that we are, yet He never sinned. He understands our struggles with temptation.
It is encouraging to know that Jesus understands our weaknesses. He is not surprised by your struggles with sin. You can come to Him honestly and share your struggles with Him.
When you are tempted to sin, bring that struggle to Jesus. Look up verses related to your particular sin struggle and consider how His Word applies to your battle. Talk to Him in prayer about what you are facing. Ask Him for the strength to resist temptation and obey Him.
Replace the temptation with doing what is right and pleasing to God. Through the Holy Spirit, God will guide you and strengthen you to follow His Word.
Remember, you do not have to face temptation alone. Jesus understands your weaknesses. Draw near to Him and receive the mercy and grace He offers to help you in your time of need. ~ Jeff M Newman
