If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me first. If you were of the world, it would love you as its own. Instead, the world hates you, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. (John 15:18-19)
Jesus wants you to understand that following Him can lead to opposition and persecution.
When you follow Jesus, you are not following the teachings of the world. They world will hate you for this.
Just look at the persecution people receive when stand up for the teachings of Jesus.
The world wants you to reject the commandments of Jesus.
Jesus wants you to stay remain steadfast and to not be discouraged by the hostility of the world.
He wants you to know that He has chosen you to follow Him and doesn’t want you to conform to the teachings of the world. ~ Jeff M Newman

Serve Others
It shall not be this way among you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, (Matthew 20:26) In this passage Jesus is teaching about leadership and servanthood. Jesus explains that true greatness doesn’t come from being in a position of authority, but rather in serving others.
