But thanks be to God that, though you once were slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were committed. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. (Romans 6:17–18)
Before Christ, we were slaves to sin. That means we were under its power and control, sin was our master, and our thoughts and desires were opposed to God. But when you were born again through faith in Jesus Christ, you were set free from sin and became a slave to righteousness. This means you are now under the authority of the Righteous One, Jesus Christ. By the power of the Holy Spirit, you have the strength to live in this new way of freedom. Surrender completely to Him and let His righteousness shape your life. ~ Jeff M Newman
