You Were Washed, You Were Sanctified, You Were Justified
1 Corinthians 6:11

1 Corinthians 6:11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
In context, the Apostle Paul was speaking to the Corinthians about their former sinful lifestyles. Then he declares, “And that is what some of you were.” Their identity had completely changed because of Jesus Christ.
Paul reminds them of three wonderful truths. First, they had been washed from their sins. Second, they had been sanctified, meaning God had set them apart as His holy people. Third, they had been justified, meaning they had been declared righteous before God through faith in Jesus Christ.
None of this happened because of the Corinthians’ own efforts. It was entirely the result of God’s grace through the work of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. The moment you put your faith in Christ, God sets you apart as His own. Then He continues His work of sanctification, transforming you more and more into the likeness of Christ.
Sin is no longer your identity. Your identity is now found in Jesus Christ. Spend time today thanking God for washing you, sanctifying you, and justifying you through Christ. Live each day in light of your new identity, trusting the Holy Spirit to continue His transforming work in your life. ~ Jeff M Newman

Observe Jesus’ Commands
Don’t be a hypocrite, judge yourself first, before judging others.
Matthew 7:1-5 “Do not judge so that you will not be judged. 2 “For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 “Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? 5 “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. (Luke 6:37-42)
