John 17:17 Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth.
In context, Jesus is praying to His Father on the night before the crucifixion. This shows us that spiritual growth is rooted in the Word of God. Jesus prays that His followers would be sanctified by the truth, and that God’s Word is truth.
Fill your life with the Word of God and depend on the Holy Spirit to apply it to your heart and life. Change your daily rhythms to intentionally incorporate Scripture.
Here is one practical strategy to help you grow spiritually: choose an area where you want to see growth, find verses that speak to that area, and study them carefully. Memorize those verses and pray them regularly. Each day, ask God to give you the strength to obey what He is showing you through His Word.
As you abide in Christ and remain in Scripture, God will continue His work of sanctification in your life, shaping you more into the likeness of Jesus. ~ Jeff M Newman

Don’t be angry with a brother or sister or call them a fool. Control your anger.
Matthew 5:22 (NIV) But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.
