A Dim Reflection
1 Corinthians 13:12

Now we see but a dim reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. (1 Corinthians 13:12)
When Paul wrote these words, mirrors were made of polished metal rather than glass, and they produced a dim, imperfect reflection. This image describes our present spiritual condition. As Christians, we truly know God, but our knowledge is partial and incomplete. Therefore, we should not be discouraged when we do not fully understand God or His ways. Knowing God “in part” is a normal and expected part of life in this present age.
We can be encouraged because a day is coming when what we will be and who God truly is will be revealed with clarity. Then we will know fully, just as we are fully known by Him. Confusion will give way to understanding. Until that day, we are invited to trust God, believing that He will faithfully reveal both who He is and who we are becoming in Him.~ Jeff M Newman
