The Bible says there are other things we must do besides believe. Like repent and sin no more, take communion, be baptized with the Holy Spirit and have a relationship with Jesus. He says I did not know you, the road to heaven is narrow.... I have done all but am trying hard to have a personal relationship.
Everything starts with faith in Jesus. There are nothing that we must do to receive eternal life other than putting our faith in Jesus. He gives us eternal life because of His grace. Once we trust in His atoning sacrifice we are justified. That means we are right before God because we trust in Jesus' payment for us. As we walk with Him we still need to have faith in His commandments and seek His strength to obey. He promises to give us the power to keep His commandments. I have put put three lessons out on the commandments of Jesus. Tomorrow I am publishing the final lesson. In order to have a personal relationship with God, I would focus on what God has done for you. Learn about His love for you. Study His promises. Be in fellowship with other believers. Seek to obey His commandments and ask for His power to do what He is asking. He will give you the strength to obey. God says to draw near Him and He will draw near to you.
