Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. (Matthew 7:15)
Jesus is warning us to be vigilant and cautious of individuals who may appear outwardly as Christians and profess to teach about God. However, their true intentions are to exploit and take advantage of others.
To identify false prophets, it is important to carefully scrutinize their teachings and compare them with the teachings of the Bible. While they may include some biblical truths, they may also promote ideas that are contradictory to God's Word.
In addition to examining their teachings, it is crucial to evaluate their motives. Do their actions and lifestyle align with the teachings and example of Christ? Or are they primarily motivated by personal gain, power, or fame?
Praying for discernment and wisdom is essential in order to assess both their character and teachings accurately. Seeking guidance from mature believers and conducting personal study of the scriptures are valuable practices that enable us to discern between genuine and counterfeit individuals. ~ Jeff M Newman
