1 John 2:3–4 By this we can be sure that we have come to know Him: if we keep His commandments. 4 If anyone says, “I know Him,” but does not keep His commandments, he is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
The evidence of true, personal knowledge of Jesus is a life that keeps His commandments. This is what leads to transformation in your life. “Keep” means to guard, treasure, and continually practice His Word. This isn’t about sinless perfection, but about a lifestyle of obedience.
Salvation comes through God’s grace, not by works. Once you are saved, your life will be continually transformed into one that desires to keep His commandments. He empowers you through the Holy Spirit and guides you step by step.
If someone says they know Him but does not keep His commandments, they do not truly know Him in this relational way. They may know about Him, but they have not come to know Him personally.
Continue to look to Jesus every day. Fill your life with the Word of God. Ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen you to obey. And watch Him transform your life. ~ Jeff M Newman
