Do Not Conform to the Passions of Your Former Ignorance

1 Peter 1:14-16 As obedient children, do not conform to the passions of your former ignorance. 15 But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do, 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
As a child of God, you are called to live in obedience and no longer shape your life around the desires and patterns of your former sinful way of living.
Instead, you are to align your life with the will and character of the holy God who called you. Because God is holy, His children are called to reflect that holiness in every area of life.
This means intentionally turning away from former sinful patterns and desires that once defined you. As you look to Christ, your life is transformed by His work in you.
God is the one who brings about this transformation, and you are called to respond in faith by yielding yourself to Him and depending on His grace.
Ask Him to help you walk in holiness as He continues to shape you into the likeness of Christ. ~ Jeff M Newman

Observe Jesus’ Commands
Gouge out or cut off whatever causes you to sin. This is not promoting self-mutilation, but rather taking radical measures to maintain purity and prevent the serious consequences of sin.
Matthew 5:29-30 If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to depart into hell. (Mark 9:43-48, Matthew 18:8-9)
