Do Not Provoke Your Children to Wrath
Ephesians 6:4

Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath; instead, bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
As a parent, it can be easy to direct your anger toward your children when they don’t meet your expectations or are frustrating you in some way. It can be easy to become quick to anger in these situations. However, God calls us to be slow to anger and patient with others, just as He has shown great patience and mercy toward us.
When you correct your children, examine your motivation. Discipline them because you love them and want to help them grow in the Lord, not simply because you are frustrated or angry. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you patience, wisdom, self-control, and gentleness as you parent your children.
Spend more time in prayer and ask God to transform you to become more like Christ as a parent. Your children need correction and discipline, but they also need to see the character of Christ in the way you discipline them.
Be careful not to continually provoke your children to anger. Persistent harshness, unreasonable demands, and anger can discourage your children and damage your relationship with them. Instead, seek to lead them with love, patience, truth, and grace, pointing them toward the Lord.~ Jeff M Newman
