Titus 2:14 He gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.
In context, the Apostle Paul was writing to Titus. He explained that it was Jesus who gave Himself to redeem and purify His people. Jesus willingly gave Himself.
He chose to free us by paying for our sins. He not only frees us from the penalty of sin but also from its power and control.
Paul’s wording also echoes the Old Testament. After God redeemed Israel from slavery in Egypt, He called them a people for His own possession.
In the same way, Jesus redeems people from sin and purifies them to belong to Him.
The result is that His followers become zealous for good deeds. When you put your faith in Christ, you will experience the same transformation.
You will desire to help others find the same freedom you have.
Let Jesus continually purify your life by placing your faith in Him. Ask Him to use you to help free others. ~ Jeff M Newman
