He Was Pierced for Our Transgressions
Isaiah 53:5

Isaiah 53:5 But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
This was written hundreds of years before the crucifixion. What stands out is that it was He who was pierced and He who was crushed. He did this in our place, even though we deserve it.
We are the ones who committed transgressions, meaning we willfully rebelled against God. Isaiah prophesied about what would take place on Good Friday. The innocent, Jesus, was wounded in our place.
The result of this is that we can have peace with God and be healed. This healing is primarily spiritual. It refers to the restoration of our relationship with God, where we are not only made whole, but also fully forgiven of our sins.
Because of His sacrifice, our guilt is removed and we are no longer separated from God. Take time to reflect on the substitutionary sacrifice that Christ made for you and respond with gratitude. ~ Jeff M Newman
