Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. (James 1:22-25)
We are called not only to hear the Word but also to be diligent doers of the Word. There is a great promise: when you continually look into the perfect law of freedom and act upon its teachings, you will be blessed.
There is significant freedom and blessing when you live according to God's principles rather than being entangled in a sinful lifestyle that will ultimately destroy you.
Take time today to reflect on God's commands and ask Him to give you the strength to obey His ways. ~ Jeff M Newman

Do To Others As You Would Have Them Do To You
In everything, then, do to others as you would have them do to you. For this is the essence of the Law and the Prophets. (Matthew 7:12) When we interact with others we want them to treat us with empathy, kindness, fairness, and compassion. We don't want them to bully us, mock, us or be unkind to us.
