If I Ascend to the Heavens, You Are There
Psalm 139:7-10

Psalm 139:7-10 Where can I go to escape Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? 8 If I ascend to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, You are there. 9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle by the farthest sea, 10 even there Your hand will guide me; Your right hand will hold me fast.
This psalm was written by David. He is praising God for His constant presence. David declares that there is nowhere he can go where God is not present.
This verse reveals one of God’s attributes—His omnipresence. God is present everywhere. He is not limited by space or distance. This can be difficult for us to understand because we are limited by time and space. If we want to go somewhere, we must travel. God, however, is present everywhere at all times.
Before Jesus returned to heaven, He promised, “I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20). Through the Holy Spirit, Christ is always with those who trust in Him. Let this truth bring you great comfort. You are never alone. God is always present and always ready to help you.
When you are struggling, it is easy to feel alone. But God is with you in the midst of your trials. You may feel as though He is distant or occupied with someone else, but He is not. The God who created the universe is fully present with you. He knows your needs, cares for you, and invites you to trust Him.
Take a moment today to thank God for His omnipresence. Let this truth draw you closer to Him and deepen your trust in His faithful presence. ~ Jeff M Newman
