The Mind of the Spirit Is Life and Peace
Romans 8:5–8

Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God. (Romans 8:5–8)
There are two ways to live: according to the flesh or according to the Spirit. When you are born again, you receive a new identity as a child of God. God places His Spirit within you, and the Holy Spirit begins to change how you think, what you desire, and how you live.
This does not mean you will be perfect, because you will still battle with your old sinful nature in this earthly life. However, your life will no longer be marked by the habitual, unrepentant practice of sin. Instead, your mind and heart will be increasingly shaped by the Spirit, leading you to practice righteousness.
Each day, choose to set your mind on the things of the Spirit. Yield to His guidance and allow Him to control your life, rather than allowing the desires of the flesh to rule you. ~ Jeff M Newman
