1 John 3:8

1 John 3:8 The one who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the very start. This is why the Son of God was revealed, to destroy the works of the devil.
In this verse, John uses the phrase practices sin. This does not refer to an occasional failure, but to a pattern of life. Sin is rebellion against God.
When someone lives habitually in this way, it shows alignment with the devil, who has been sinning from the beginning. The good news is that Jesus, the Son of God, was revealed to destroy the works of the devil.
When you follow Jesus, you are no longer under the power of sin or bound to live a life of lawlessness. ~ Jeff M Newman
