The Spirit of Truth and the Spirit of Deception

We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. That is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception. (1 John 4:6)

In context, John is writing to followers of Jesus who are struggling with the influence of false teachers. One way to recognize a false teacher is to ask, “Does this message align with the teachings of Jesus?” Be careful about the messages and media you consume, because there are voices in the world that are not from God and can mislead you. Spend time in the Word, listen for God’s truth, and follow His voice. ~ Jeff M Newman

John 17:20-23 “I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; 21 that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one— 23 I in them and You in Me—that they may be perfectly united, so that the world may know that You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.
