What Fellowship Does Light Have With Darkness?

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership can righteousness have with wickedness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness? (2 Corinthians 6:14)
In context, Paul is writing to the church in Corinth, a city filled with idolatry, immorality, and pagan worship. He is calling believers to spiritual purity and faithfulness to Christ.
He teaches that believers are not to form binding partnerships or be unequally yoked with unbelievers. This does not mean that believers are not supposed to interact with unbelievers in everyday life.
Rather, he is warning against entering relationships that compromise one’s identity as a child of God, such as aligning with false teachers, marrying an unbeliever, or entering a business partnership in which core values in Christ are fundamentally opposed.
Jesus, however, invites us to take His yoke upon us. As we deepen our fellowship with God, our spiritual vision becomes clearer, enabling us to discern and avoid relationships that would harm our fellowship with Him and weaken our walk with Him. ~ Jeff M Newman
