1 Peter 2:21-22 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in His footsteps: 22 “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in His mouth.
Peter points believers to Jesus Christ as the perfect example. He is addressing Christians who were experiencing suffering and persecution, encouraging them to endure hardship in the same way Christ did.
Jesus committed no sin, and no deceit was found in His mouth, even while He was being falsely accused, mistreated, and suffering unjustly. He responded with righteousness, humility, and trust in God.
This does not mean that Christians will never struggle with sin. Believers still battle the flesh and face temptation. However, God has given believers the Holy Spirit, who empowers them to walk in obedience and increasingly live like Christ.
When you are struggling, suffering, or facing persecution, look to Jesus as your example. Do not give in to sinful responses such as bitterness, revenge, or deceit. Depend on the Holy Spirit to strengthen you and help you imitate Christ in the way you live and respond. ~ Jeff M Newman

Matthew 15:8-11 (NIV) “ ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 9 They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’ ”10 Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand. 11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.” (Luke 6:45)
