You Were Dead in Your Trespasses and Sins
Ephesians 2:1-3

And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you used to walk when you conformed to the ways of this world and of the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience. All of us also lived among them at one time, fulfilling the cravings of our flesh and indulging its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature children of wrath. (Ephesians 2:1-3)
Before you were a Christian, you were dead in your trespasses and sins. You conformed to the ways of this world and followed the ruler of the power of the air, that is, Satan. You lived to fulfill the cravings of your flesh, indulging its desires and thoughts. This is why the world does not know you.
As a child of God, your desire is now to obey His will rather than the will of Satan. Remember, the world lies under the sway of the ruler of the power of the air. In contrast, you are called to love others as Christ has loved you. You now walk by the Spirit and not by the flesh. Therefore, you should not be surprised when the world does not know you, because it did not know Him. ~ Jeff M Newman
