Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, And attend to your herds; (Proverbs 27:23 NKJV)
Diligence means careful and persistent effort. This proverb calls us to diligently care for the resources entrusted to us. If a shepherd does not continually pay attention to their flock, then the sheep could be eaten by wolves. If we do not know the state of the resources or people we are responsible for, we could lose them. Apply this principle to all areas of your work, family, and personal duties. Our example of the perfect shepherd is Jesus. He knows us and is constantly attending to us. Look to Jesus and follow Him. ~ Jeff M Newman
