In the Beginning Was the Word

John 1:1-2

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. (John 1:1-2)

“The Word” is another name for Jesus. Jesus was present in the beginning, before creation. He was not a created being. Through Jesus, all things were made. Since Jesus was there in the beginning, this shows that He is eternal—He has always existed. Jesus was with God the Father in the beginning. Jesus and God the Father have shared intimate fellowship throughout all eternity. They are distinct from each other, yet both are fully God. ~ Jeff M Newman
